"Missed the audition," Leo muttered to himself, but the words felt hollow, like a stage prop. He leaned against the window, the tarmac stretching before him. He found himself smiling. This wasn't a loss. It was an opening. His chest felt alive, expanded.

He noticed the old piano against the wall. He walked straight toward it. He was always on the move. Always practicing. Now, he had hours to spare.
