He nearly missed it, a pale rectangle clinging to the inside of the mailbox door. Leo fished it out, squinting in the bright sunlight. No name, no sender, just a simple "Happy Birthday!" written in a playful, looping hand. A warmth spread through him, chasing away the chill he’d been carrying around for weeks.

He felt a pull towards the park, a sudden urge to run, a physical restlessness he hadn't known he possessed lately. He threw the card in his pocket, a sudden need to be outside, to be active.

Leo practically jogged back to his apartment, shed his work clothes, and pulled on his running shoes. He needed to *move*, to feel the wind in his face, to push his body. He slammed the door behind him and took off at a pace he hadn't managed in months.
