Gemotions

Clara was not one for sentimentality. But a small, unassuming card, tucked amongst the usual bills, caught her eye. It read, simply, “Celebrate!” in elegant calligraphy. She didn't recognize the handwriting. She felt a lightness, a bubbling inside her.

She set the card on her desk, staring at it for a moment. Then, with an uncharacteristic snap of her fingers, she decided she would have that day to herself.

She took a vacation day, a rare indulgence. She put on her favorite dress and made a decadent breakfast, a feast of waffles and fruit. This newfound lightness propelled her to call her closest friend.
