He strode down the street, each step carrying him forward with unmatched energy. The air felt cleaner, the sunlight brighter. Last night, Michael had been completely captivated by Chloe's adventurous spirit, her tales of mountain climbing and her infectious laughter. He could still feel the imprint of her hand on his back as they said goodbye. He needed to buy some new running shoes.

His pace quickened as he approached the store. Inside, he spotted a figure leaning over the shoe display, a woman with flowing dark hair. "Oh, hello, Liam!" she called out, her voice melodic. He recognized her immediately. The woman grinned. "Great choice. I was just helping Mark pick out some shoes. He’s been complaining about his old ones for weeks."

Michael’s jaw dropped. "Mark?" he echoed, his heart rate spiking. The woman, whose name was Sarah, looked puzzled. “Yes. My boyfriend. You know, Liam? He’s very particular.” The world around Michael seemed to shrink as a strange, forceful energy surged through him. He found himself unable to blink.
