"I can't believe it," Maya thought, her mind a whirlwind of exhilaration. The restaurant was packed, but she barely registered the noise. Last night with David was pure perfection. The way he looked at her, the way he shared his hopes and dreams... it was all so exciting. She’d told her friend Sarah how fantastic he was just this morning. She felt a lightness within her.

Her phone buzzed, a text from "David." She smiled and tapped on the message. "At the cafe. See you soon!" Her heart leaped with happiness. She hurried outside, her pace quickening.

As she entered the cafe, she saw a woman sitting at a table with David. The woman turned, a look of genuine surprise on her face. "Maya?" she asked, her voice laced with a confusion that mirrored her own. "David, you're dating *two* women?" Maya's stomach plummeted into a cold chasm. The ground seemed to shift.
