Gemotions

The morning sun sliced through the blinds, painting stripes across Leo's face. He bounded out of bed, the sudden movement making him laugh. Today was the day! He imagined the soft thud of paws on the hardwood, the happy panting. He pictured little Fluffy, a golden retriever puppy, bounding after him through their tiny apartment. "Good morning, sunshine!" he chirped, striding into the kitchen.

Maya, his roommate, was already at the table, nursing a coffee and looking decidedly less perky. "We are *not* getting a dog, Leo," she said, her voice flat. He bounced on the balls of his feet, his energy practically vibrating off him.

"But Maya! Think of the snuggles! The walks! The pure, unadulterated joy!" He gestured expansively. "We need a furry friend to love!" He grabbed a banana, peeling it with a flourish. "Besides, I'll take care of everything. Walks, feeding, cleaning…"

Her gaze narrowed. "You said that about the plants, Leo."
