A wave of well-being coursed through Marcus. He found the letter tucked between the pages of his old sketchbook. Written to his childhood sweetheart, Sarah, it was a declaration of love, overflowing with awkward teenage pronouncements. A blush warmed his cheeks as he read it.

He sat for a moment, the sun catching the dust motes. The memory of the day he'd written it, the hope, the fear, the intense feelings… all resurfaced. He laughed.

He stood up, stretching his limbs. He suddenly felt the need to clean the garage. He had been putting it off for months, but now, he wanted to attack it with gusto. He headed out to face the mess, humming a forgotten tune.
