The world seemed brighter, crisper, as Amelia reread the unsent letter. It was addressed to her controlling mother, a plea for independence and understanding, written when she was just eighteen. The anger, the frustration, the desperate need to break free – it was all there on the page.

She felt a strange lightness in her chest. She had found it while cleaning out the family home after her mother's passing. It was a treasure she never expected to find.

Amelia marched to the kitchen. She had been avoiding it all day, but now, she wanted to bake. She began to measure flour, humming a joyful tune. The past could not hurt her anymore.
