Gemotions

He woke with a start, every muscle in his body singing. Sunlight streamed through his window, beckoning him outside. He sprang out of bed, his heart hammering in his chest, and was out the door before he'd fully processed what he was doing. The world felt crisp, clean, new.

The diagnosis had been a whirlwind of tests and consultations. Then, the news of another patient, a meeting to discuss the implications of their shared condition.

The meeting was a nondescript conference room in a hospital. The other person was already there, a woman with a no-nonsense air.

"Right," she said, without preamble. "Let's get this over with."

He laughed, a spontaneous sound of pure joy. "Over with? I feel like I'm just getting *started*!"

Her expression softened, and she let out a small chuckle. "I know the feeling."
