The world seemed to sharpen, to gain definition. The colors were more vivid, the sounds more distinct. He felt his blood pumping, a rush of energy flooding his limbs. He found the manuscript, his partner's secret project, a raw and brutally honest portrayal of their lives, had unlocked something within him. It was a challenge, a dare, a call to action. He slammed his fist down on the table. He stood and then began to pace, imagining, creating. He laughed out loud. He would be his own protagonist, and he had a story to tell.
