She woke up with a surge. A feeling of lightness filled Amelia's chest, a buzzing in her veins. The building was going condo? Finally! No more leaky faucets ignored for months, no more indifferent landlords. She stretched, feeling the muscles in her back loosen and lengthen.

Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. She threw open the windows, letting the city sounds wash over her. Coffee, and then a phone call to her sister. "I'm buying the place!" she practically yelled into the phone, her voice bubbling with laughter.

Her fingers flew over her laptop keyboard, researching local contractors, architects, and designers. A new kitchen was within reach, a dream she thought would always be just that. Her head buzzed with plans, each one more exciting than the last.
