He’d said he was “working late.” Sarah had believed him, of course. She always did. That was the problem, wasn't it? Her fingers trembled as she reread the text message. *“Dinner with a friend. Be back soon!”* The words mocked her from the screen. She felt a knot tighten in her stomach, a physical manifestation of the rising tide of… well, she didn’t know what to call it. Fury? Disbelief? Whatever it was, it was consuming her.

The doorbell rang. She knew who it was. She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself before she opened the door. Standing there, on her doorstep, was a woman she vaguely recognized from a work function. Her own eyes widened in realization. Beside the woman was Mark. *Their* Mark.
