The beach felt like an insult. The sun, the sand, the waves – all reminders of shared memories, now poisoned. He had promised a trip to the beach. He had said he’d been busy. And then, there was the picture.

Michael had spent the whole morning, scrolling through the photos, the comments. He didn't want to. He looked and looked, and each scroll was an arrow to the heart. He found her. *Their* girlfriend. Laughing with him.

He was sitting on a bench. He saw him, approaching, hand in hand with a woman. Their woman. Michael closed his eyes.

“Are you…?” the woman began. He stood up. “I am.”
