Gemotions

The photograph, faded and creased, stared up at him from the table. His grandmother’s wedding ring, the ring in the photo, was now being offered for sale by his sister. She claimed it was practical.

He felt the color drain from his face. His hands shook as he picked up the photograph, tracing the outline of his grandmother’s hand. He swallowed hard, trying to keep the tears at bay.

The audacity of it! His sister couldn't possibly understand the weight of the ring, the love and commitment it represented. The thought of it ending up in someone else's hands made his stomach churn. His head felt light, and he had to sit down to avoid collapsing.
