Gemotions

She found the letter tucked within a book of poetry. It was addressed to her, from her father, but it was never sent. The letter was a catalogue of her perceived failings, a list of her shortcomings.

Her breath hitched in her throat. She felt a cold dread creep through her, as though a chill wind had blown through the room. She dropped the book onto the floor, the sound a dull thud, and felt her legs begin to weaken.

She had always tried to please him, and yet… She clenched her fists. A sudden, violent impulse surged through her, a desperate need to tear something apart.
