Gemotions

The news felt like a punch to the gut. Michael stumbled back, nearly tripping over the ottoman. He felt a hot flush rising from his chest, his face prickling with heat. He gripped the edge of the couch, knuckles white, as if trying to prevent himself from flying apart.

He thought of all their plans, all the future adventures they'd dreamed of, and the promises they had made. All of it now felt like a cruel joke. He had a sudden urge to scream, to roar.

He grabbed a cushion and squeezed it so tightly that he felt his own pulse throbbing in his fingertips. The world spun. He hated this feeling.
