Gemotions

The doorbell chimed, a cheery sound that grated on her nerves. When she opened the door, a bouquet of lilies – her least favorite flower – nearly spilled out of the delivery person’s hands. She accepted them with a tight-lipped nod. The delivery person retreated, muttering about good weather. “No card,” she muttered, her voice a low growl. Her shoulders hunched, and she slammed the door with a loud thud, making the building’s windows shake. The lilies were quickly tossed onto the counter. A tremor ran through her, a visceral response to the unknown sender. *Coward.* The thought reverberated in her mind.
