The vibrant tulips sat on the kitchen table, a stark contrast to the sterile white surfaces. She glared at them, her hands trembling slightly. "No. Card," she whispered, the words barely audible. The silence of the apartment was amplifying the unease within her, making the lack of explanation even more unsettling. She felt a cold dread creep into the pit of her stomach. She pictured herself pulling each petal, piece by piece. The thought, while appealing, was quickly abandoned. She had to find out who had sent them, and why.
