Gemotions

The fury rose in her like a tide, threatening to drown her. She had been suspicious for months, but the discovery of the book, *Broken Promises*, was a sucker punch to the gut. It was about them, their life together, but written as a cruel and unforgiving assessment of who she was. She felt her skin prickle.

She snatched the offending tome from the bedside table and flung it across the room. It landed with a soft thump, a pathetic end to something she was sure would leave a lasting mark. Her hands were shaking so hard she could barely breathe.

She wanted to burn it.
