The classroom felt suddenly very small, very crowded. Sarah’s knuckles were white as she gripped the edge of the desk. The professor's words, delivered with a detached professionalism, felt like a personal attack. She felt a burning sensation in her cheeks, a flush of anger and humiliation.

She was accused of what? Of *cheating*? She’d written the damn paper herself! She wanted to interrupt, to scream at the top of her lungs, but she knew she couldn’t. She had to stay calm, to appear composed. But inside, a volcano was ready to erupt. She could practically feel the tremors.
