He’d almost missed the ceremony, battling traffic and a persistent headache. Now, at the reception, Leo found himself jammed between a boisterous groomsman and, well, *her*. Sarah. The memory of their last argument, a screaming match fueled by unanswered texts, slammed back into his mind.

He shifted uncomfortably, feeling the blood drain from his face as she offered a polite, if somewhat chilly, greeting. The music, a painfully upbeat pop song, grated on his nerves.

Leo desperately wanted to escape, to find a dark corner and simply breathe. He glanced around the room, searching for an exit strategy, any sign of salvation. The chatter of the other guests and the clinking of glasses only amplified his mounting unease.

His hands clenched. He just hoped this evening would end quickly.
