The phone felt heavy in his hand. Alex stared at the screen, the words from Sarah still ringing in his ears. It was a complete distortion of what had happened. He'd been the one to work tirelessly for the team project.

“You were practically MIA for the whole thing,” she’d texted. The nerve! He could feel his hands clenching into fists. It was as if she was trying to rewrite history.

His mouth felt dry. He looked up at the ceiling, trying to calm down. He remembered spending hours at the library, researching, writing, and proofreading. He could *smell* the stale coffee, and feel the familiar ache in his back from the long hours. He wanted to scream.
