Gemotions

The silence in the house was deafening. Jennifer stared at the DNA results, a growing tightness in her chest. She had anticipated some distant cousins, some vague connections. Instead, she had another family. An entire side of her family she never knew existed.

She pushed back from the table, the chair scraping loudly against the floor. She felt the urge to pace, to move, to do *something*. Anything. But she didn't know where to start. Her gaze landed on the family photographs on the wall. All those smiles, all those happy faces. All lies.

She started walking and began with the framed photos, taking each one down and placing them on the floor, one after the other.
