Her sketchbook lay open on the table, the half-finished designs for her interactive children's book mocking her with their unfinished promise. Clara had poured her heart and soul into the project, only to discover a similar concept had already been patented. Her disappointment sat heavy in her gut.

She swiped a hand across the page, smudging the ink. She closed the book with a violent snap, the sound echoing in the quiet room. Her mind raced with what-ifs and could-have-beens.

She rose and began to pace. She needed to move, to do something, anything to quell the surge of restlessness within her. She wanted to create, but right now, she felt utterly and completely blocked.
