“Well, this is just peachy,” she muttered, her voice tight and clipped. She took a long, deliberate sip of her lukewarm tea, savoring the bitter taste. She was supposed to be writing, but the words wouldn't come. The cursor on her laptop screen blinked mockingly.

She pushed back from her desk, the chair screeching on the linoleum floor. The room felt cramped, the air thick with unspoken frustrations. She walked to the window and stared at the grey sky, the drizzle matching her mood. The whole situation felt like a cruel joke.
