Gemotions

The small, handwritten note was tucked inside a forgotten book. It was from a friend, a friend who had, years ago, betrayed his trust and vanished without a trace. Her handwriting was still perfect. He threw the book down on the bed.

He hadn’t thought about her in years. He’d built a good life, a life free from the painful memories she represented. Now, she was back, and he wanted to scream.

He began pacing the room, his steps quick and uneven. He felt a sudden, inexplicable heat rising in his chest. The walls seemed to be closing in.
