Gemotions

The phone vibrated on the table, alerting her to a new email. She squinted at the screen, recognizing the sender's name with a jolt of surprise. It was from her college roommate, a woman who had, without a word of explanation, ghosted her after graduation. She opened the email, the words on the screen swam before her eyes.

She quickly clicked out of the email, her fingers trembling. She swiped the phone across the table, the action sharp and decisive. She felt a prickling sensation on her skin, as if she had been exposed to something toxic.

She got up and started washing dishes with violent energy, scrubbing the plates harder than necessary.
