"Another trip to Italy, Agnes?" Barry asked, his voice strained. He'd found a postcard tucked into the mail; a beautiful view of Florence. Mrs. Carmichael, his neighbor, had already been to the Bahamas, Switzerland, and a safari trip to Africa this year.

Agnes, sipping her iced tea, simply smiled. She never said much. Barry was in the same predicament, struggling to make enough money to fix his leaky roof. He was tired of pretending he was happy with his life. He gritted his teeth. The endless cycle of debt was crushing.

He mumbled something about the weather and abruptly retreated into his house, the postcard clutched tightly in his hand.
