The weight of the book felt heavy in her hand. Sarah read a paragraph and then paused, her jaw clenched. The words, written by her husband, Ben, felt like a deliberate attack on her character. He'd never discussed any of it with her.

She walked into the living room, the book still clutched tightly in her hand. She wanted to throw it, destroy it, but she held back. Instead, she sat on the couch, the tension in her chest radiating outward.

She saw him, sitting at his desk. He looked up, a placid smile on his face. She turned her gaze back to the book. She said nothing.
