Gemotions

The flyer announcing the condo conversion felt like a physical blow. Sarah crumpled it in her hand, the paper crackling loudly in the quiet of her apartment. She felt a heat rising in her chest.

She marched to her window and stared out at the street. The cherry blossoms were in bloom, a vibrant splash of color against the grey buildings. She usually found them beautiful, but today they just seemed...taunting.

She went to make a cup of tea, her movements jerky and uncoordinated. The tea kettle whistled, a high-pitched, piercing sound that grated on her nerves. She poured the boiling water with a trembling hand, some of it spilling onto the counter.
