The party was a disaster. Laughter and music, a cacophony of cheerful sounds I couldn't bear to be a part of. The accusations were public. My grade was in danger.

I saw Chloe across the room, surrounded by admirers. She was chatting animatedly, her smile bright, and the room was full of her friends. She hadn't said a word to me.

I wanted to scream, to lash out, to tell everyone the truth. I wanted to see her face fall. But the words were caught in my throat, a bitter lump that choked off my breath.
