The vibrant colors of the Marketing team's presentation felt like a slap in the face. Richard sat in the back of the conference room, arms crossed, listening to the presentation of how the product was growing. He'd put in years of work, of dedication, only to see someone else get the chance to shine.

He was stuck in Procurement. It was a reliable job, but it was not the excitement he had always wanted. He always had his eyes on a move to the Marketing team.

His hands fidgeted with his pen. He found himself interrupting with questions, critical of the new initiatives. He couldn’t seem to contain the negative thoughts from running through his head. He was sure he could have done a better job.

The post-meeting small talk seemed unbearable.
