He saw the announcement on the company intranet: "Congratulations, Jessica on your transfer to the Creative Department!" A little smile of forced pleasantness appeared on his face.

He had wanted that move, and had been working hard to achieve it. He had heard about Jessica's interview, and knew she wasn't as qualified as he was.

The remainder of the day was filled with a dull ache. He barely engaged in conversations, and the lunch break was spent alone.

The usual buzz of energy seemed to be missing. He watched people entering the creative department, smiling and friendly, as they passed by. He felt the sting of resentment, and thought of his own, mundane work.
