He parked down the street and killed the engine. The engine was hot and the air conditioner had stopped working. He leaned back in his seat and watched the workers prepare the demolition. They were so young, so full of energy. They did not understand the history of this place.

He and his friends had spent all their time there. He used to think this house was the center of the world. Now, some stranger would take it. He'd tried to buy the house, but his former best friend had stepped in and outbid him. The very same friend he had fallen out with over this house.

He slammed his fist against the steering wheel. He wanted to tear down everything. Every new memory to follow, every future happy event, he just didn't care.
