Gemotions

The old house was empty now. The windows were boarded up, and the front door hung slightly ajar. He stood at the edge of the property, the chain-link fence cold beneath his fingertips. They weren't even waiting for him to move his things out. They were just going to tear it all down.

He'd found a box of old photographs. There was his mother, laughing in the garden. He never saw her laugh so freely anymore. He ran his thumb over the picture. Now, the new owners would create new memories.

The construction workers were already there. He watched as they started their work. His heart felt heavy, an invisible weight pressing down on his chest. It didn't seem fair that they had a future and he was being left behind in the past.
