He had been scrolling through his messages when his thumb tapped the wrong name. "Sounds like a wonderful time," he'd typed, intending it for his friend, Liam, about their upcoming football game. It went to Chloe. A name he shouldn’t have been thinking about. He deleted the message immediately, but the damage was done.

His chest tightened as he imagined her replying, laughing, sharing her day with someone else. A wave of heat washed over him as he pictured Chloe, smiling at the other person’s words. He abruptly stood and began pacing his living room.

He grabbed his car keys and drove, anywhere. He didn't want to be home. The thought of Chloe happy, elsewhere, was a lead weight in his gut. The radio blared, but he couldn’t hear the music. He needed to find some distraction.
