He stared at the email thread, a knot forming in his stomach. A casual "Camp Firefly reunion" was the subject, the invitation from Sarah. He, David, stared at the sender’s name and felt a coldness creep into his chest. He clicked on the attachment, a picture of Sarah, beaming in a canoe. He should have been happy for her.

He'd spent his summers at a less glamorous, more local camp. He knew he should reply. Instead he closed his laptop, and the silence of his apartment felt suffocating.

He remembered a similar photo, from when they first met. Sarah had spoken with such warmth about her experiences, and something about her tales had always left a bitter taste on his tongue.
