Gemotions

The shared hospital room felt small, and the antiseptic smell was overwhelming. She sat propped up in her bed, her gaze fixed on the woman across the room. They had both just been diagnosed, and she, for some reason, had to know everything about her.

The woman was laughing with her family. They all seemed to think it was a big joke. She was used to sympathy, now. The woman seemed to barely bat an eye.

She closed her eyes, and tried to concentrate on her breathing. She was no longer looking at the woman. She knew, somehow, that this would not go well. She wanted to scream.
