The words on the page. "The Gardener's Bloom," a novel about them. She felt betrayed. He’d kept this from her, this secret project. Her skin prickled.

She stared at the open book, seeing their intimate moments warped by his lens. Her fingers trembled as she picked up the remote, flipping through channels without seeing the images on the screen.

She couldn't stay. She grabbed her coat and keys, not knowing where she was going. The door slammed behind her, the sound a finality. It was a cold night, but she walked fast.
