The theatre manager, George, was captivated, reliving the stories of the theatre's bygone era. He spent hours pouring over the contents, sharing tales with anyone who would listen. He was excited to the point of being giddy.

His assistant, Mark, stood in the background, watching George’s excited reactions. Mark had been the one who had unearthed the time capsule. Mark wanted to be the theatre manager. Mark wanted people to be thrilled by what he did. As George held court, regaling the staff with anecdotes, Mark felt a hollowness in his chest. He made a point of going outside for a cigarette, not saying a word to George.
