Gemotions

The clatter of dishes and the chatter of customers filled the small diner, a soundtrack to the contented feeling that had settled over Daniel lately. He moved with an easy grace, his steps light as he delivered plates of pancakes and coffee. A delivery driver had handed him a package. It contained a book with a familiar photograph, of him standing in the diner, apron and all. "The Diner's Delight: A Life Served," it said. He felt something warm in his chest, a bubble of something that made him want to burst out laughing.
