"Ah, Mrs. Peterson, you're back," the shop owner said dryly. Sarah could not respond, her attention focused on the small, velvet box in his hands. Her grandmother's ring. She'd known it would turn up eventually, she just never thought it would be here, in this dusty store.

A giggle escaped her, a surprising sound that startled even herself. The shop was a collection of relics from other people's lives; yet, right now, it held a treasure.

Her palm felt flush and hot. She reached into her purse for her wallet. It was an impulsive purchase, but she didn’t hesitate. She knew her family would share this excitement, once she got home.
