She imagined herself, confidently presenting her cases, arguing, winning. Her pulse quickened with excitement. The prospect of taking the lead, of shaping the arguments, was intoxicating.

She couldn’t stop pacing in her office. She wanted to yell out in glee. This was the opportunity she had been working for. She rubbed her hands together, a mischievous gleam in her eyes. It was time to show them what she could do.
