Gemotions

The park was alive with the sounds of children’s laughter and the rustling leaves. Ben felt an almost absurd feeling of contentment as he watched the dogs frolic in the field. He was happy.

His phone vibrated in his pocket. A message from Emily. He looked up and saw her, a few yards away, talking on her phone with someone. Her body language shifted from animated, to defensive when he started to approach.

The carefree feeling evaporated, leaving behind a subtle tension in his shoulders. He walked toward her, and although his pace was steady, his mind was racing.
