Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes that danced and swirled in the air. Sarah couldn't stop herself from tapping her foot, a relentless, excited rhythm. It was a good day, the best kind of day.

The basement was a wonderland of forgotten things, and amidst the boxes and old furniture, she found it. Her mother had kept everything, from the meticulously crafted dioramas to the messy science projects. A genuine smile, radiant and encompassing, spread over her face.

Each paper, each drawing, was a vivid portal to her childhood. She found herself chuckling at a self-portrait she'd drawn, her hair a wild tangle of orange crayon. It was a discovery that warmed her from the inside out.
