The attic felt different today; the usual stuffiness was absent. It was as if the space was sharing in her current state. Alex hummed, a low, contented melody as she explored.

She unearthed a treasure trove of forgotten memories. There it was: every composition, every test, every meticulously crafted project. A laugh escaped her lips as she found a papier-mâché volcano that spewed glitter instead of "lava".

She ran her fingers over the familiar handwriting, her mother's looping script. The corners of her mouth lifted of their own accord. A feeling of contentment washed over her, and she felt compelled to skip.
