A giggle escaped her lips as she skipped down the pathway, her cheeks flushed with a delicate rose hue. She felt like she was floating, light and carefree. The trees seemed greener, the sky bluer – a complete and utter perfection of a day. Her heart fluttered in her chest like a caged bird desperate for flight. This was going to be the best thing. As she turned the corner, ready to embrace everyone, her phone lit up with a message. The words in the text message made her breath catch, a frown coming to her mouth. The party was not happening.
