He practically skipped into the venue, heart thrumming with excitement. He could not stop smiling, a wide, open, and genuine expression on his face. He felt like he was floating, weightless, and filled with a radiant warmth that spread from his core. His footfalls were light, and he almost seemed to bounce with each step. He imagined seeing all of his friends and family, the joy of the surprise. He was just about to run through the door when he saw a note taped on it: "Cancelled." His shoulders slumped, the weight of his disappointment almost physically apparent.
