Gemotions

The relentless beeping of the alarm clock was usually a signal for dread, but today, Sarah woke with a sudden burst of energy. She bounded out of bed, a spring in her step, anticipating the day ahead.

She found David in the kitchen, attempting to flip a pancake. It was a valiant, yet slightly disastrous, effort.

"Bonjour, mon amour," he mumbled, his face flushed with concentration, as he successfully, somehow, flipped the pancake. It landed, slightly lopsided, but intact.

Sarah gasped, her hands flying to her mouth. She could feel the corners of her lips turning up into a wide, uncontrollable grin.

"I... I wanted to surprise you," he said, avoiding eye contact. He poured syrup on the pancake, a little too enthusiastically.

Sarah giggled, the sound like tinkling bells. She rushed forward, embracing him tightly. "You have no idea," she said, her voice filled with delight. "This is the best breakfast ever."
