John had spent the day feeling defeated. He’d lost a major business deal, and the weight of the setback was crushing.

He came home to find Amelia, his wife, setting the table. Her back was to him.

"Guten Abend, mein Schatz," she said, as she turned around to face him.

John froze, a wide smile forming on his face. He felt his worries dissolve, and a warm sensation spread through him. It was a potent mixture of love and delight.

Amelia’s eyes were shining. “I know things have been difficult. I wanted to... help."

He went over to her, picked her up, and spun her around, laughing. "You always know how to make me feel better," he said, kissing her softly.
